Safety

The rectangular area 10m in front of and 3m to both sides of the targets is roped off, only contestants and arbiters are allowed here. It is forbidden to stay behind the targets.

Participants under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Every participant has to have a third party liability insurance, if this insurance is offered as standard option by insurers in the thrower's home country.

Toilettes

There are plenty of toilettes in a camp on site.

Weather

We have tents that will hide us from direct sun or rain.

Competition will be held no matter what the weather is. Rain or snow cannot stop us :)

Walkback Knife No-Spin

The competition consists of four backward walks performed on five different lines. The thrower will have to make three throws for each of the five distances for a total of 15 throws in each walk and 60 throws in total.

Situation

Thrower starts on closest line (3 meters). Three knives are thrown from left to right. One knife to one target.

After three throws from line thrower collects his knives and moves to next line (for example 4 meters).

Walkback Knife No-Spin
Technique

Knives can spin maximum 170 degrees upon release of the knife.

Sports Equipment

Only knives with a rigid blade, longer than 20cm, havier than 200g and with a blade narrower than 6cm.

The knives used must be identical, comply with the general rules and can be verified by the judges. There is an obligation to enter the competition line with at least three tools.

Distances

3 meters
4 meters
5 meters
6 meters
7 meters

Procedure

The thrower will throw 4 runs. In each run, he will throw one round of three throws per distance mark - starting behind the closest distance mark and moving back behind the next distance mark after completing the previous round. He will thus throw from all distances in one run, resulting in a total number of 60 throws (5 distances x 3 throws per round x 4 runs).

The thrower does not have to stand directly at the distance marks, but can move back a maximum of 100cm minus the length of his front foot. Position of back foot does not matter.

Counting points

After each evaluation, the thrower retrieves the throwing tools. The thrower can request that, before another throw at a target, the throwing tool sticking there be evaluated and removed.

The tool will be counted exactly as it is sticking in the target, it will not be redressed perpendicular to the target.

For a throw to be valid, a knife's tip must stick.

The best ring that is cut will be counted.

Distances are measured from the tip of the foot that was closest to the target during the throw. It is thus forbidden to transgress the minimum distance lines, doing so will make the throw invalid (0 points).

If more than 5 women participate, there will be a separate ranking for them.

Targets

The target is a circle measuring 50cm in diameter; it is partitioned into 5 concentric rings with the following diameters (and colours): 10cm (black), 20cm (white), 30cm (red), 40cm (white), 50cm (red).

Points: the centre (bullseye) earns 5 points, 4/3/2/1 points are awarded for the respective outer rings.

Heights of the targets (measured from the bullseye to the ground): 1.30m up to 1.60m.

After three throws from line thrower collects his knives and moves to next line (for example 4 meters).

Walkback Knife Spin
Technique

Knives have to spin at least half of rotation. More than 180 degrees.

Sports Equipment

Only knives with a rigid blade, longer than 20cm, havier than 200g and with a blade narrower than 6cm.

After three throws from line thrower collects his axes and moves to next line (for example 4 meters).

Walkback Axe

Long Distance Knife No-Spin

The competition consists of three throws in each segment. The thrower have to stick at least one of three knives to be able to move to next segment.

Situation

Thrower starts on closest segment (4-7 meters). Three knives are thrown. If no knife sticks competition ends.

After knive sticks thrower can move to next segment.

Long Distance Knife No-Spin
Technique

Knives can spin maximum 170 degrees upon release of the knife.

Sports Equipment

Only knives with a rigid blade, longer than 20cm, havier than 200g and with a blade narrower than 6cm.

10-13 meters
13-16 meters
16-19 meters
19-22 meters
22-25 meters
25-28 meters
etc.

Procedure

The goal is to achieve a stick in this circle from the farthest distance.

The minimum distance to the target is 4m. From here, areas of 3m in length follow (that is, 4-7m, 7-10m, 10-13m,…). The contestant chooses a distance in the first area, from here he has 3 throws (there are no test throws). If he achieves a stick, he may proceed back further away from the target and has again 3 throws. He may go back at most into the next area. The procedure ends if 3 throws are unsuccessful; The distance achieved will be noted, measured to the centimetre. The areas only concern the measuring of the distance, not the throw itself (for example, it is allowed to throw from a distance of 6.99m even though one stands in two areas at once). After the first throw in an area, it is forbidden to go back to an area closer to the target. As a further restriction, once a distance is chosen, for the current 3 throws the contestant may change the distance only within the 2m-range of 1m towards and away from the target.

Counting points

Biggest distance of three throws in a segment counts.

Targets

The target is a circle with a diameter of 0.6-1m.

Heights of the target (measured from the bullseye to the ground): 1.30m up to 1.60m.

Each segment can be counted just once.
But you can throw on segment as many times you want. So you can spend all your nine throws trying to hit segment #8.

Counting points

Each segment counts for its number. So segment #7 gives you 7 points and segment #1 gives you 1 point.

Targets

The target is a plank of wood divided into 9 segments delimited by thick black line which counts as 0 points.

Coutanque

Coutanque was created one night in September 2018 by the french team No Sleep Team.

This precision game is played in two teams, the players throw their knives as close as possible of a nail placed in the center of a log round, laying flat on the ground.

In addition the knives are thrown from below (as bowling) and players are placed behind the throwing line 3 meters from the nail.

You could play against an opponent with 3 knives, or in teams of two to three players, each with 6 knives.

The matches are played in 2 winning sets of 11 or 13 points.

Coutanque is a fun and competitive precision game !
